Yorkie Pop-Out Pins

Cute little Yorkies commissioned by my mother-in-law.

Now, these may not look like anything special, but they represent a new breakthrough in my sculpting adventures. These Yorkies are my very first attempts at resin casting! The original figurine was sculpted from polymer clay like normal, then I created a silicone mold from the sculpture. From that mold I was able to create these resin duplicates. Then I just painted and sealed them like normal.

I'm super excited about all the options that resin casting can open up for me. Another bonus is how durable the resin is compared to the Super Sculpey clay I was working with. They should be able to withstand a lot more abuse as pins and necklaces.

These guys are resin casts of an original polymer clay sculpture. They are set inside a bottle-cap, painted with acrylics, and glazed for protection. A pin backing is attached to the back so they can be displayed in many places!
